In Honor of Valentine’s Day: Things I Love About Love

12 February, 2010

Candy hearts that whisper sweet nothings, the smell of ripe red roses, eating chocolate, the tingly feeling you get in your toes when you kiss, the flip-flop of your belly when you first think you might be falling for someone, the comfort of warm arms wrapping you in a hug, a kiss on the forehead as your mom tucks you in at night, hot soup when you’re sick, tea and a book in the afternoon, wet puppy kisses, a cat in your lap, a letter from a far away land, hospital visits, teddy bears, a good hearty belly laugh, family dinners, a homemade meal, a father’s pride, birthday wishes, when someone says “I’ve got your back” and follows through, random acts of kindness, a donation to charity, saying “Thank you”, love songs, silly romantic comedy movies, the fact that just about every story is enhanced by some kind of love – familial, friend, or romantic, watching cartoons and cuddling, breakfast in bed, hand massages, the subtle way he plays with your hair, perfume and pearls occasions, chocolate covered strawberries, stomach butterflies, text messages that say “miss u”, big sweatshirts that smell like snuggles on the couch, hand-holding, silly or subtle public displays of affection, getting tested and sharing the results, hot showers and warm towels, soothing bubble baths, those lengthy “just because” messages in your inbox, little blog comments (YOU ALL MAKE MY DAY), fabulous mind-blowing sex, the purr of a furry friend in the sunshine, a wagging tail, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, the Vagina Monologues, paper hearts, cardboard and construction-paper Valentines, those three little words, the list goes on and on…

Tell me, friends, what do YOU love about love?

love boils down to 3 things for me: falling into it, having it and giving it back. i dont consider myself a romantic, but i love love 🙂

A fabulous list! I love giving others joy and love. I also love it when that love is unexpectedly returned. I love the kind of love I have for my friends, the kind of love I have for my family, the kind of love I share with my fiance, the kind of love I have for my cat and the kind of love I have for the world as a whole. I love how varied love is, it doesn’t conform or be selective, it is there for everyone – however they need it.

I really love to have someone understand me fully. I love that love is deep within me. I love that love gives me room to be myself.
